Austin Chen: Student Athlete
"CHALLENGE YOURSELF.

TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL."
				Being a student athlete:
Being a student athlete is a great honor and a tremendous responsibility, Not only do I need to train hard and perform well to help my team win and bring glory to the school, but I also have to maintain my academics to a high standard to retain eligibility for the team. Furthermore, student athletes need to be role models so I have to pay attention to my character and behavior because others are watching, especially my coach, Jeff! I'm grateful though as this has really helped me mature.

I'm quite proud to be a student athlete and, even though I'm exhausted sometimes, I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I get up at 5:30 every day and drink water first thing. After that, I do some stretching and then I run for about 30 minutes. Following this, I have a quick shower so I don’t smell bad at school! Once that’s done, I grab a quick but healthy breakfast which includes eggs, fruit, and some bread or noodles. During basketball warm-up, I work on my outside shooting first and try to focus on improving shots that I take in a match. After that, the coach will make us do drills to improve speed, endurance, reflexes, and of course, work on strategy and teamwork. I don’t really like running laps but I understand that we have to build up our constitution because a basketball match requires a lot of running and if you get fatigued early, you won’t be able to play your best.
