Art teaches us patience balance focus expression symbolism form dexterity

As with music, art predates all of our cities and civilizations by many thousands of years. Cave drawings in the Lascaux Caves date back just under 18,000 years ago. (top image, right) The instinct to represent the world around us through the filter of our own experience and emotions exists in every culture in the world throughout recorded history. Nearly everything around us has been touched by art, from the drawings on your pencil cases to the covers on your textbooks. Drawing is often the first passion of children and helps them to open their imaginations and grow mentally. It is often said, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Indeed, images can often communicate much faster and clearer than sentences. Art has gone through many changes over time and our students learn history as well as techniques necessary for an arts career.
