Music teaches us harmony logic math diligence passion acoustics rhythm

Music is the language of emotion and is fundamental to being human. It expresses what words or images cannot. The first known instrument, a flute made of a bird’s leg bone (top right) found in Germany, dates back 35,000 years. This demonstrates that music predates all known civilization by many millennia.

Why do we need music?

Imagine a movie with no music. It’s just images and people moving and talking. The emotions we feel in movies come directly from music timed to match the drama in the scene.

Imagine a celebration like a party, birthday, or festival with no music. There is no joy or spark of life.

The philsopher Nietszche said, “Without music, life is a mistake.” Einstein played the violin and stated that he thought in music and used its balance to bring harmony to his equations. Indeed, music is a balance of emotion and math. Without it, human culture would be far less.
