Friendly Simon

I am Simon, an eighth grader in Wahaha Bilingual School Hangzhou. I am neither tall or short, but I am well built. From my perspective, I am a friendly boy. I get on well with most of my classmates. My study is pretty good. I have lots of hobbies, including soccer, basketball, chess and so on. I am such a sporty guy, because I am able to play soccer, basketball, badminton, table tennis, and I am also good at running, long jump and high jump. I transferred to this school on third grade. My best friend is Zachary. We met each other on fourth grade. He taught me how to play basketball and motivated the interest of me playing basketball. We always play together and improve together. I am not sure about what I will do in the future, but I will probably choose to be an entrepreneur or a scientist. I am quite imaginative, since I am always thinking of being the “protagonist”. However, life is hard, so I am trying to work hard to make me stronger. For my future school, I will go to Shanghai for high school, and I will go to the U.S. in college, as the academic atmosphere and resources are really great. I am also interested in math, as the happiness of solving a hard math problem is undeniable(however sometimes it is really boring!). I have also won lots of math awards during my lifetime. I had traveled to many interesting places, such as the U.S., Switzerland, Germany, Singapore, and so on. These places are all amazing, and I had wonderful experience in those places.

My Maxim

My maxim is: Will often run counter to the fate, determined in the end will be dismantled —— Shakespeare. It is a famous motto that tells people that they need to keep on instead of just giving up easily.It encourages me a lot since I am not such a person who could keep the passion on one thing for a long time. I often think that I should give up. This motto could motivate me to keep working on the things I am interested. When sometimes I faced difficulties, I can have the mind of solving the issue. It is a pretty powerful motto to me.

My Hobbies

The first hobby that I would like to introduce is basketball. Basketball is my favorite sport. The fast-paced, great feeling of it really impressed me. I began to learn basketball in sixth grade. Zachary motivated me to play basketball. He also taught me some useful basketball skills to improve my basketball skills. And I had also go out to take basketball classes to practice the basic basketball skills. At first, basketball wasn’t interesting. In fact, it was a little boring. You were required to do boring shooting and dribbling practices, which is really tiring. I had thought of giving up, but I kept playing it. Then, I gradually find out that basketball is amazing, especially when you are playing games, and you scored points. The feeling really makes me crazy. Therefore, I practiced basketball harder, day by day, and now my basketball skills are relatively mature. I had participated in the school team of Wahaha Bilingual School, and go out to play with other international schools. It was such a great experience. My favorite basketball star is Stephen Curry. He is famous because of his outstanding three-point skills, and excellent dribbling. And his childlike face really makes me delighted. I hope that one day I can also own the basketball skills that Curry has, especially the three-point skill (though it is impossible).

The second hobby that I would like to introduce is soccer. I began to learn soccer since I was third grade. Basically, soccer is the sport that I learned the earliest. Firstly, I learned it with my classmates. We learned the basic dribbling and shooting skills. On fifth grade, I was lucky as I was accepted by the WBS School team. I played as back at first, since my defensive skills are relatively better. However, after a year of training, I found out that goalkeeper is the best job for me, due to the reason that I am flexible. From then on, I played as a goalkeeper. On the sixth grade, our school participated in a competition in the Shangcheng District, and our team became the champion of that competition. We all worked hard, so I think that we deserve the championship. Recently, our middle school soccer team also got the champion of the competition between 6 international schools, including Wahaha Bilingual School, Huili, OTIA, BASIS, RKCS King’s College Schools, and Wycombe Abbey School Hangzhou. It was such an amazing trip.During the time of playing soccer, I have met lots of friends, including Zac and Toby. They are all very sporty boys. We are the oldest members of the school team. We weren’t very familiar to each other at first. Nevertheless, after a few times of training and matches, we soon became friends as we all have the same interest. We won lots of competitions together, which make our friendship even stronger. In my opinion, the best forward is Lionel Messi. He is very flexible, and he can easily dribble through the defenders and score. He is born as a leader. He has led his team won a thousand matches. And his personality is really good. However, the soccer player that I like the most is Thibaut Courtois. He is a famous goalie that is now playing in Real Madrid CF. He also played left back before. He is an excellent goalie, and he has made thousands of beautiful saves. He has led his team to champion often. I believe he is the best goalkeeper ever!

The last hobby I would like to introduce is chess. Though I also learned chess, but “chess” here means “go” (围棋, a traditional Chinese chess) but not “International chess”. I started learning go since fourth grade(which is very late). I was the second old person in that class. I knew that I learned go when it is comparatively late, thus I made the decision that I must work harder so that I could improve faster. In fact, I am really good at go, so that in the time of a year , I could already go to the advanced class. To me, go is not only a normal hobby, but a tool that can help me improve. Since I have learned go, I learned to be patient and keep doing things. It really benefits me a lot. Also, sometimes when I am sad or frustrated, I will go to my bedroom and play go by myself. It is really a very useful way to make you happier. My brother also plays go(however he do not like it very much), so sometimes I play go with him. From my perspective, go is a really beneficial hobby to me!
