Projects bring people together

At Wahaha WBS Middle School, we believe that students develop and thrive in an environment which allows them to create, design, synthesize, and collaborate.

Collaborative

Students work in pairs or small groups which builds teamwork.

Integrated

Every project flows directly from content covered in lessons.

Practical

Each project focuses on skills and produces real world results.

Projects Build Better Students

"Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere." - Einstein

Projects help students develop many useful skills for the real world including: teamwork, communication, delegation, responsibility, prioritization, and others – all of which give them an advantage in study, career, and life.

Projects create real-world outcomes which students can use to make their portfolio, a visual guide to what they have learned. This is invaluable in school and job interviews and clearly shows their growth and commitment to tasks.

Middle School students often feel overwhelmed with the number of academic tasks they are assigned and don’t understand their purpose. Projects give them the opportunity to relax and engage their creative side which helps connect concepts to outcome.

Rave Reviews

"Compared to normal classes, we are given additional opportunities to develop our talent and creativity while showcasing our group projects. More communication skills are required, while a sense of group honor pushes each member to be their best."

"The projects we do are really imaginative. I was pretty surprised to find out that we were always welcome to share our ideas together to “invent” something for the very first time. This encourages us to discover more. Learning isn’t just a day of work, but a process for us to enjoy."

This year we are re-evaluating our English curriculum in middle school and concluded that our students would benefit more and be better armed with tangible and enriched end products which can support and strengthen future opportunities in their learning. By providing students with semester projects, it will evoke new skill-sets, encourage creativity whilst allowing students to explore literature in a more interactive and engaging way.

"I think Project-Based Learning (PBL) is one of the best teaching strategies. It can not only empower students by pushing them to become the drivers of their learning but also brings educators much-needed energy."
